I am using SharePoint 365 and I keep getting this “To save to the server, correct the invalid or missing required properties when saving documents” error. To get this, I go to “Documents” and it doesn’t matter if its a file in the root directory, or a sub-folder, but when I open up a file (i.e. word or excel file) the file will open and at the top of the document, I get a yellow bar showing the above mentioned error. If I click on “Edit Properties” a side panel shows up displaying a “form” that I have created for my team SharePoint site with some fields marked as required. I have done a ton of searching and the only thing that I keep finding is to do the “Inspect Document” method to fix this issue, and I can say that it doesn’t work in this case.
I want to keep this from ever happening again. How can I do that? In case it matters, “Documents” has been set to use “Modern” view by the company I work for.
Thank you for any help that can be given for this.
Hi Wayne,
This could also happen if you have a custom document template used in the document library which you can see in the Advanced settings. You can change or reset this template to avoid the document popping up for custom properties.
How can I reset it? Im not sure if I would do that from the Site Contents>Your Apps, but if so, one of the other issues I have noticed since my company did an update to change the documents (all library’s?) to Modern View (I just found out that everything else is in classic view) and now I can no longer see the apps I previously chose to use and had configured. My “Your Apps” shows all of the apps I have to choose from and none of the ones I am currently using.
This issue happened after the issue we are currently discussing. I just want to bring it to your attention, in case that was where I would have to reset the template.
