Hi All,
I am in the process of moving many of our companies folders out of DropBox and into Sharepoint doc libraries.Â
As a way of getting around the 5000 item search limit I have setup a document centre, added a doc lib to it and uploaded some data only to find it still gives me the warning when going over 5000 items. As I understood it the use of a document centre get around this? What am I missing?
Thanks all.
Thanks for the info Beau.
What is the actual real world impact for my users of going over the 5000 limit? They will all be accessing the files via a OneDrive for Business synced folder and for a vast majority of the time clicking through folder structures and using links to navigate and access the data.Â
From what I have read it is only when doing a search that issues may arise, is that correct?
Thanks.Â
Various things can happen. But if planned accordingly, you should haven’t any problems. When going over the 5,000 item limit… if any of your environment has custom code running that accesses this list and pulls back > 5,000 items, it could break.
Aside from this, the only real issue is the current issue you are seeing now where the views may not load. But if you tag your content or classify by folders, it should be mitigated.
