The .master and HTML file have unlinked and I am not sure how it happened but I am looking for a way to link them again. I can only assume that the .master files was changed and not the HTML file to uplink them but now when they update the HTML file the .master does not change.
Has anyone else ran into this and does anyone have a possible solution?

Did you try to restore old version for .master and .html files
Site Settings > Web Designer Galleries > Master pages and page layouts
Then click on the item
ex: oslo.master or oslo.html
Then from the ribbon tab > File > Version History
Then look for “published major version” or “Conversion successful” version and restore it
