Hi
Firstly there was shout out for this resource on the PnP Monthly Community call so I thought I would give it a go. Anyway, I have been asked to build an SharePoint 2007 (OOTB) Workflow on an existing sub folder structure in a document library. This sub folder has unique permissions to ensure a limited number or contributors and approvers.
The intention is to build an approval workflow to trigger only when documents are added to this folder and not when a document is added outside this structure. I am not sure this is going to be possible in the currently structure and or without trying to install SPD 2007 on the client\’s windows 10 / Office 206 laptop
I have a feeling I am going to have a to build a new library to accommodate this requirement.Write your answer.

Thanks, for your answer. This morning I made an executive decision and created a new site structure to host this library. Thereafter I locked down the approvers and members who will participate in the approval workflow. All ready for UAT.
Ironically, this looks like the most important job I have performed for this client given the content and its value being managed. Forget the new Office 365 intranet prototype I built which is waiting to go live 😉 .
It has been awhile since I’ve done an SPD 2007 workflow but a couple of challenges that you may run to auto-start an approval for a particular folder is that typically workflow association applies to the entire library.
A possible workaround would be to use a conditional check based on a content type or metadata value before a custom approval workflow continues. Otherwise, as you said might as well create a separate library to keep it simple.

Can a SPD2007 workflow be created on a Content Type on SP2007?
