Content Type List Library SP Online: Intake form using content type to capture work requests. Issue is once new item submitted and go into List Library can not update content type category. It is grayed out and doesn’t allow change (via quick edit). Advanced settings are correctly set. Second with edit it pulls up correct view and allows drop down, but then will not save keeps original content type. Looking at best apples to apples going from SP 2013 On Prem Content Type List library intake form to OOB SP Online Content Type List Library intake form. Thank you ahead of time for anyone that might know what is taking place for could not find anything that matched on world wide web. 🙂
Changing the Content Type with Quick Edit feature is no longer available as it was in SharePoint 2013.
As for the edit form, this is bug and I suggest reporting this to Microsoft. In the mean time, if you need to change the content types on multiple items, you can use the new “bulk edit” capabilities with Modern SharePoint. This will allow you to save the Content Type change.
Beau Cameron thank you for the information and how quick edit was not carried over for content type. When you stated edit form was a bug are you stating this is a known bug and MS needs to get more reports of it or stating a possible bug on the end between MS and the co. I work for? Bulk Edit does work just might be an interesting new way of having to update the categories for our team work tracker. Thanks again and look to your updated reply.
Hope this comment doesn’t show up twice. Thank you Beau for your answer. Didn’t find nor realize quick edit feature no longer useable even though present. I do have a follow up. Are you stating MS is aware of the bug and needs more examples to their attention to fix or are you stating possible bug with MS and the co. I work for? I also find interesting will take some change management that need to utilize bulk edit to make changes to new intake requests to then change to the proper content type for tracking our incoming work requests. Look forward to your reply and will be marking thumbs up once hear back from you.
