Maybe one of you smart people can help!

I am looking for a way to create a customizable pop-up message when user clicks on the name of a document in a document library. The message should be visible before the document opens and only pop-up for documents that meet certain criteria.

Any suggestions?

I should have been clear that I can not write in JavaScript and don’t have anyone on staff who does.

You could add JavaScript using JSLink to the view to check the document’s properties and display your pop-up.
