I know that Styles have been around for many years. They have served their purpose well. It looks like with the release of the Quick Edit functionality that they did not make it work with some of the legacy pieces of lists. Also having a style applied hides the VIEW selector so you cannot switch between views either. Rather limiting in my opinion. Had to remove all of the style applications from my List Views to restore Quick Edit functionality.
