Hi Everyone,

I have recently ventured into the realms of Content Type Hubs, set one up in UAT and all appears to be working as expected.  I have since created a site template that subscribes to the Content Type Hub but on closer look on a Site created with the template I noticed some unusual behavior with the list/library Content Types.

Some of the list/libraries appear to have what looks like duplicate Content Types (see attached).  If you hover over the link for the Content Type both IDs are the same, and when I check the Content Types section under the Site Collection there no duplicates are present.

If I click on “Change new button order and default content type” under List Settings, uncheck “Visible” and click on OK the Content Type disappears !?!  What makes it even more weird is that other lists/libraries that also consumer Content Types from the hub are OK.

The original site used to create the template is fine.  It is only any sites created with the template are experience this problem.  I have created multiple sites based on the templates to recreate the problem and the results are consistent time and time again.

So far I have tried the following:

  • Republish the Content Types in the Hub (running the requisite timer jobs).
  • Removing/Adding the Content Type to the list/library in the original site and recreating the template.

Other ideas I am considering are:

  • Re-provision the Managed Metadata Service for the hub.
  • Use PowerShell to try and clean things up.

Has anyone come across this before?  I’m kinda at a loss, so any help/ideas would be most appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

Paul
