In 2013, I’m trying to give a user who has contribute permission the additional ability to add users to the site.
So far, here’s what I’ve done:
- Created a new group “Users who can Manage Permissions”
- Created a new permission level “Manage Permissions” that has Site Permissions for ‘Manage Permissions’. Also included with that level is view items, open items, view versions for lists and browse directories for site permissions (screenshot:Â https://goo.gl/photos/zdgMPeNicKwGXTfV6)
When I have the person try to add additional users, she is not able to.Â
Is there any way to give the person the ability to add users but not have Full Control over the site?
Shawn, this can be done using the default Members group on the site. If you go into the Members group and choose Change Group settings, beneath the option for Who can edit the membership of this group, choose Group Members. Add your user to the Member group and they should be able to add users only to this specific group, without giving your user full control of the site.
