Thanks for your reply. But I need to create some complicated workflows that cannot be done using SPD. Is there anyway other than SPD?

You cannot develop workflows via Visual Studio for SharePoint Online. Workflows developed via Visual Studio deploy as a full trust solution, which isn’t something you’re able to do in SPO. You’ll need to use SharePoint Designer 2013 instead to create your workflow.
