Which materials like books, blogs and videos are best to start or improve knowledge about SP workflow. Is good idea to start from MS Visio diagrams, and export it to SPD?

I can’t recommend enough the Rackspace videos on Youtube. I have learned quite a bit from these. Also, watch what Paul says in the chat room. Seriously, he has a lot of knowledge.
Hello, Yes there are many good resources out there. Simply be sure to find documentation that is the same version of SharePoint Designer (2007, 2010, or 2013).
Until you can find a class to take I would recommend creating a custom list in SharePoint and simply building a workflow on that list to see how it works. Viso is something extra that would be good to use once you understand the basics of a normal workflow.
