I have a SharePoint on premise team site. The site uses windows authentication(NTLM). Now I need to make this team site public facing. How to do this? I tried it but it keeps on prompting for credentials.

Limited-access user permission lockdown mode
This will fix the issue. You can then apply this at the web application level.

Might sound crazy, but we had a similar issue and the issue didn’t appear when we used Chrome.
Check your Internet Explorer security settings for adding your SharePoint site to trusted sites, making the configuration for SSO and further security settings.
