We just rolled out social in my on-prem network and I’m getting requests to be able to follow pages and even web parts, so my users can get updates when those items have changed. It’s a totally legitimate use case and request, in my opinion.
I found this article from Microsoft, which basically says there are only four items you can follow: sites, people, documents, and tags.
Is there something we can do to enable following of (at least) pages and (even better) web parts?
Anyone have any insight as to why following these items out of the box isn’t an option? Design decision? Not enough time to include before rolling out SharePoint 2013? Following of pages seems like a no-brainer to me.
