Hi Everyone,
I’ve been working on this one for a day now and no luck. Thought someone else might have had the same thing happen. When you go to view a Visio document, in browser or web part, you get this: “Unable to retrieve data from the server. The web request failed.” I’ve seen a ton or articles on this about the permissions for the service account and the Visio cache folder. I’ve done all that but still no luck. Any thoughts on what to try next?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have an intermittent issue just like this although it works fine for weeks. This make it hard to diagnose as I cant recreate it. I just took over so it hasn’t happened on my watch YET. I am being pressured to delete and re-creating the service. Has anyone had success doing this?
Glad to hear you got it worked out Rick…
Have a great week!
So turns out the first thing I did to resolve this was the correct fix. Just needed to reboot. Granted the service account access to the cache folder, rebooted, good to go. Restarting IIS was not enough…
Are you running an unattended visio service account? What service application pool are you running visio under and what account is tied to this app pool? What permissions does this account have in SQL?
You could try deleting the Visio Graphics Service and just reprovision it… It is a pretty simple service from a setup perspective. I would keep an eye on the ULS log while you provisioned it…
I’m currently in the middle of a couple installs and migrations for a few clients at the moment.
