Hey,
Im new to sharepoint and I need to create a site for my user sto use but im not sure which template to use in its creation.
Two things that i need are the ability to have a Form Library and a DB library. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I need the form library because my users will be using infopath templates to create documents.
Not completely sure what you’re asking Alex. All Data stored in SharePoint is in an SQL Database. Our forms have multiple data connections to various sources… most internal SharePoint lists or Get User Profiles. We don’t have any SQL databases other than the various that our SharePoint site is using.
InfoPath does allow you to connect to a variety of external data sources. For connecting to an external SQl data source, you’ll probably want to use Business Connectivity Services.
This link gives some good references for BCS
Hope this helps, Alex.
Do you have a SharePoint enterprise version or SharePoint Standard Version?
Infopath only available on Enterprise Version.
oh ok thanks. i was wondering if it was only 1 template per form library thanks for answering that too.
If its ok i was wondering if you could help me with something else then, not sure if any of your forms pull data from a SQL database but i was wondering what the best way of storing the DB log in details was. In a a DB connection library or through infopath form services?
i actually did that, just form library wasnt always an available app to add after in the template though im guess publishing a infopath template would probably just have created one.
Ok, you probably don’t have your enterprise features enabled, here is a step by step for getting an InfoPath forms library going: http://www.appvity.com/blogs/post/2013/06/16/How-to-configure-and-publish-InfoPath-to-SharePoint-2013.aspx
