We have a few lists that are manually updated by pasting data from an excel files into the datasheet view. It was working for years. Since July, when the user pastes in data, the rows all have diamonds with ! on the left of each row and the data will not update. It also states READ Only in the bottom right corner. We do not have any ready only columns in the view. We’ve tried it with different number of rows, all with the same outcome.
We have also tried making a list template of the list and creating an empty copy of the list. It works the first day… but the next it does not.
We compared the excel files from when it did work to now, we created new views… nothing. This happens for any user on the list, so its not a permissions issue. We also tried after hours so the list threshold is not an issue.
Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas?

the fix was to Link to the problem list with an Access DB. Then copy a few rows over. Once done, then it worked in the browser.

Here’s the workaround we used for this issue:
Add required fields for the list to the Datasheet view to be able to complete bulk upload into datasheet view. Not fun but that’s the only solution I found.
