Hey memebers.
Have been studying sharepoint to join the industry after leaving journalism and intelligence careers. I wonder if there are any internship programs around DMV area that would help me practice what I studied so far. I would work for anything that pays my commuting costs. Your help is appreciated in advance!
P.s. I have been studying to become SP admin.

Firstly, I think it’s fantastic that you have the foresight and “get up and go” to change careers and I really love to hear stories like this. Too often you hear people grumbling about their jobs without doing something about it, so well done! I am sure SharePoint (and in the future SharePoint Online) will provide you with a stable career for the foreseeable.Â
I can’t personally comment on “internship programs” as I work for a company in the UK, but over here we have Microsoft Apprentice schemes which may also be in the US.

There are plenty of jobs out there in the DMV area but as you know they are looking for experienced; senior level admins and or developers for SharePoint. I have seen a few site-collection admin and power users job advertised which dont require as many years experience. There is a place where you can apply; SSA (Social Security Administration) but it requires a minimum security clearance (background check, etc.). If you a lucky enough to land a position there you will have plenty of time to work on your skills. Good Luck.
