I have a SP site with various team sites within it. I want other users to have ‘read only’ access to the material that’s on there, however, I do want them to be able to post/reply to blogs on discussion boards.
How do I set the permissions on the sites to prevent other users’ edits?
Any help would be appreciated.

Okay can you explain that a little more. You have a site collection with subsites underneath?
You want users to have read only access to the material (I assume documents) within their sites, but you want them to have edit access to the discussion boards? On which sites are the discussion boards and materials?
