Looking for Enterprise Architecture (EA) webparts/application for SharePoint. I’m working an EA effort with a customer, and I and my colleagues are in the discovery stage; it’s an update of a shelfware EA that’s 7 years old, and as a result, they are not fans of tool-based EA, but are SharePoint enthusiasts. Have seen posts regarding EATK, but can’t seem to find it on connect.microsoft.com, and chasing my tail on Google otherwise, so I figured I’d go straight to the “SharePoint source” and ask: are there any SharePoint-based EA tools out there worth pursuing?
Requirements: first-and-foremost… EA /= Systems Architecture. Looking for something that can pull the string from business activity/service to who’s implementing it (organization, role), to what’s doing it (application/service, platform/system), to “guiding documents” (laws, policies, regulations, guidance), to information exchanged, to…
Ideally want to be able to take any of the artifacts as the “center of the world” and be able to show context-driven links between the artifact and other artifacts – all in the SharePoint environment. Oh… and if the back end lists could be maintainable *in SharePoint* by the owners of the information, that would help the business case to “go get it” immensely. Ideally want to make it the centerpiece of the organization’s governance (IT and otherwise), but it care-and-feeding can’t take 8 consultants, 2 DBAs, and a passel of trainees.
