As Mark suggested, pick something out of your company’s day to day business that is not the modern one and design it with SP in a fashion way.
Some ideas:
- News Aggregator
- What’s new (query information among the entire site and show top 10)
- Task status (My tasks with conditional formatting applied)
- Picture Carousel
- Slide show
- …
- Identify the need and go for it
Well it depends on what you want to show (need more info;))… You could surface something using a CEWP or CSWP, which you could then poke into a Carousel. This all depends on your goal – what do you want to achieve from it?
Thanks , Mark , though I wanted to go for something which describes SharePoint feature as caraousel I feel will be more common for any kind of platform.Â

Why don’t you do some kind of News Aggregator that presents the latest news from the Intranet in a nice looking Carousel? Most companies need that.
