I’ve been researching what is better, SharePoint Social or Yammer. Since we have no interest at this time in Office 365, I’m thinking SharePoint Social is the better option.

We have Yammer as a social site, but we also have o365 and have just incorporated it into our intranet on SharePoint so we now have the option to have the company Yammer embedded or take the full version option form the menu bar as I swapped the news feed for yammer. You have the option of staying within the SharePoint site or opening the full browser session, you can setup various groups in Yammer not sure about the SharePoint social side, the only issue is you need to sign on separately to yammer as there isn’t a single sign on yet.
