I deployed sharepoint 2010 foundation with host header myportal.com.This works fine on the server.
The server is on domain aa-bb.com. So the server FQDN is EMER.AA-BB.COM But when I type myportal.com on any
system on the LAN, it says page cannot be diplay. I need to create myportal.com on the DNS but I dont know
where and how to do this. Will this be A record or CNAME record? Kindly help.

I think first you need to create a new Zone for myportal.com and set it to be authoritative so that your DNS server doesn’t look on the internet for this domain and instead serves it from it’s own database, then after that, I think a C name is fine.
