Post your laptop configuration which you primarily use for Sharepoint Development purpose,Can be a lap with SP running on hyper-v or vmwares
Out of interest – did you set the NTFS allocation to 64K on your SQLServer or “All In” VMs ?  My dev “All In” server with 16GB running also VS2013 isn’t exactly turbo charged on my secondary  7600R RPM DIsk. Â
Is it me or my laptop…what happend to all the other replies I can only see 6 replies at the moment…
Microsoft Surface 2 (soon to be 3) with Azure VMs 🙂
HDD spindles will hold back a laptop regardless. Â I roll a SSD main with a 1TB secondary HDD but if you spin up too many VM’s, you will have HDD contention and experience a performance hit. Â no way around it if you have 3+ VM’s all fighting for spindle time on that secondary drive.
For Dev/Test and plenty of RAM, the effects can be minimized and still be in a usable state, but lets not brush over the facts, spindles matter.Â
One thing we ought to have here is the most top 3-5  developer laptop configs on here that might be suitable for the one or more of these  profiles.:Â
– general ITPro machineÂ
– Â SharePoint online developer capable of running a couple of VMs
– big beast SharePoint Developer on prem / online ( capable of running a 3-4 Â server farm without bringing the laptop down.Â
