Is there an utility that works on Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012 that will allow me to see what’s locking a file and also allow me to kill the process using it ? I used to use one years ago called ProcessMon (I think it was called).
ProcMon is part of the SysInternals suite, now formally part of Microsoft.
Still the best set of tools out there
Thank.
I was think of something that can show me all the processes locking a file…
Task Manager is pretty good about telling you what is going on, and if it’s “not responding” but it’s misleading at times as if it’s going “heavy usage” then it shows as “not responding” if it’s processing something and then in a minute “comes back” but it was just thinking.
