Can you touch on the ways that you can extend Teams both now and in the future?
As the Live Show has now finished – I will answer my own question here 🙂
The main extensibility points are :
Bots – these will allow you to create an automated / intelligent bot that can “chat” with real people and perform tasks based on keywords / actions.
Tabs – these are the main UI structure of Teams. There are already many options for adding a pre-baked Tab (such as add an Excel Spreadsheet, Planner board, Document libtary). There’s already a way to build your own (see Rich D’s post). The message from Microsoft is that these will become full supported in the ISV space and there will be a delivery model so that they can be published to the Office store.
Connectors – These allow you to connect to 3rd party data sources and get notifications direct into your Channel. E.g. you can connect a channel to an RSS Feed and get a notification when anything new is added. (Great way to get “notifications” for the Team instead of bombarding your email).
