Check out Rockstar.com – a social platform built by South Africans originally for the CRM community. They have recently expanded it to include SharePoint.

Although I really like the rockstar365 idea, how does it compare to all the other influencer sites like klout, kred, peerindex etc.?
Though I currently rank surprisingly high, I know it cannot be true. There are so many well known “SharePoint rockstars” who have just not signed up or filled in data.
And they probably won’t as long as the ranking algorithm is so intransparent as it is now.
Here are my main concerns:
- The MS expertise level is totally unclear! It changed for me several times (going up) without me changing anything in my profile. The certificates themselves don’t mean so much either. For one many ppl just got them with braindumps and second there are so many real expert out there who don’t hold any exam at all.
- The ranking does not allow you to see who are the others in your country/worldwide. When I see such a ranking I would also expect some kind of leaderboard.
- The project experience just sums up the timespans. That resulted in 25 years of SP experience for me as I always have many projects at the same time… 🙂 And no, I didn’t start with SharePoint at the age of 10 long before Tahoe was released :o)
- The whole influencer level thingy does not really say anything so far. What does each level represent? What goes in it? Who do I influence and how? Does it change over time like in Klout or is it static?
Don’t get me wrong (and sorry for the rant), I think such a ranking is fun primarily because some kind of competition is fun and everybody likes to measure with others 🙂 Also the other mentioned influencer sites are not that much better regarding transparency.
@Veronique: My reply is not personally directed to you mor to Paul, but you brought up the topic 🙂
@Paul: Could you give some more insights how it works and your future plans?
