I recently did something similar as they wanted custom ID number to start at specific number for a new version of the app. I did see a delay on the network if the Network/SharePoint was busy of up to 20-30 seconds. At least the value is blank.
This is great info. I need to build my own numbering system in SharePoint. For example, we have policies that I want to start with POL and procedures that I want to start with PRO, forms that I want to start with FRM etc. Is this possible?
