What are our options for monitoring events and activities such as :
- New Channels, Teams
- User Posts, Logins
- New Apps Usage / Installs
and metrics such as :
- Number of posts, channels, users across time.
Are there any analytics tools allowing us to see what’s going on yet? Or maybe a 3rd party tool?
To answer my question, there’s not as much monitoring i was hoping for, but there is some!
You can find some data in the Service Health Dashboard in the Office 365 Admin center. That shows you advisory notes as well as full blown incidents. (See below)
you can also see some usage data showing:
- Channel Messages
- Chat Messages
- Calls
- Meetings
Interestingly this doesn’t show the guest usage (we have 100’s of guests).
There’s also a report showing “device usage”.
Teams chats that are private between 2 people or 4 people will be stored in those users mailboxes. Chat logs will be there depending on your Retention Policy/Litigation Hold. It works same way as Skype for Business chats
Chats part of Team/Channel also stored in Exchange.
Did you know there is an audit log in the security & compliance center? That shows events like who logged in last, who made a channel, etc. Not sure if that is what you are looking for or not.
