This might be a basic question, but I’m not sure if SharePoint site which is running in internet use Active Directory credentials. Or should I need to use FBA?

Depends what you need it for. If it’s a public website and only employees need to authenticate to make changes or whatever, you can use AD. If you need external users , you can go for FBA
