I was wondering if anyone has created something to track resources in their company for projects in SharePoint 2010. I’ve tried to “Google” but I keep getting ways to capacity resource plan for a SharePoint 2013 upgrade which isn’t what I need (at this time).

Julie, are you looking for something similar to resource planning or workforce management? This is something that can be done and I’ve worked with several federal contractors building out solutions similar that manage their workforce on specific government projects.
Let me know what you’re looking for and I may be able to point you in a good direction. Are you looking for off the shelf or a solution built on top of SharePoint?
