Hello SP Community
I need to know if the following is possible:
I am migrating some DBs from SP2010 to a whole new SP 2013 farm/environment. My steps are:
- Create a classic Web App in the SP2013 farm
- Restore 2010 DBs to the new SQL server
- Test the DBs against the 2013 Web App
- Mount the DBs to the 2013 Web App
- Convert to Claims
- Now the question is, if I have done this job last month, and I know wants to get it up to date with bacup-files of the 2010 DB, would it be possible just to roll the backup out on the 2013 Claims Web App.
- Or do I have to cleane up/delete everything from my SP2013 farm and then again do the migration process?
I really hope that I do not have to go with the last.
Thanks for the replies.
The process is that the client wants to test every aspect on their 2013 before go-live, and it has to be on the production server, not in test. They daily get new records in their SP2010 while it still is running, they can not shut it down before the 2013 is fully operative.
So they asked to get a migration of their sp2010 to 2013, test it, and then when they decide to go-live, just make a new attach/mount proces, that does not require me to delete the existing claims Web app, and create a whole new calssic-web app.
But then a add-on question, after I migrate i also do the Site Collection upgrade for all of their Site Collections. Would I still need to to this step, second time i mount/convert the Web-app.?
