Hi sharepoint people just wondering if anyone has any links or advice on set up apps in sharepoint 2013 without adding any DNS entries. Is this even possible
For a security reason it is not a good option. I would wait to do it via DNS entries than using any other options.
Agreed! Maintaining individual users’ host file isn’t a good option at scale. The scalable “solution” to this is… DNS. 🙂
Your only option is to add an entry into each host file , to each computer that will acces the apps with. It needs to be a wildcard so check this:Â http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20446930/how-to-put-wildcard-entry-into-etc-hostsÂ
I would wait the 2 weeks to do it properly.Â
Just an idea at the moment as do not have any access to the datacentre DNS and a change will take approx 2 weeks just for a new entry to DNS – so was just seeing what my options are
I think it may be technically possible, but it would not be manageable at scale. What’s your reasoning for not wanting to setup the DNS for it?
