I am looking for two things:
The first thing I need is for a list item in a form to be greyed out so you can no longer edit it.
The second thing I need is to disable editing of all items once its been added to the list.
I have SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010
MJ – Can I have your attachments as it may solve my issue?
I figured out how to disable editing for all items:
I set up a workflow in SharePoint Designer as follows:
1. Add new Workflow from the list you want to disable editing
2. Name it whatever you like
3. Click on the the Step1 box and then under Insert click Impersonation Step (See Attachment 1)
4. Click in the Impersonation Box and start typing Replace and press enter (See Attachment 1)
5. Click on these permissions
6. Select Add from the Replace list item permissions pop up (See Attachment 1)
7. Select Choose in the Add Permissions pop up and add the users or groups you would like to change permissions for. The list I setup for this workflow only shows items that the person created so in the select users pop up I chose User who created current item. Click ok (See Attachment 1)
8. Now back in the Add Permissions pop up choose the permissions you would like the user(s) to have. I don’t want the customers to be able to edit anything so I chose read. Click ok (See Attachment 1)
9. Click ok on the Add from the Replace list item permissions pop up and then select this list
10. In the Choose list item pop up select current item and click ok (See Attachment 1)
11. Publish List
12. See Attachment 2 for final result
This all ties into my Ticketing System. I am in the process of setting up another workflow to delete the item once it is closed so it is not just sitting there forever
MJ – Can I have your attachments please?
