Hi SP friends,
My environment is sharepoint 2007 Farm.
we are on the upgrade of Office 2013. 60% users have office 2013 and upgrading is still going on. The user upload a document created by office 2013 in SharePoint 2007. This documents are shared with other users. If the users are on office 2007 and try to edit this documents. it throws these errors
“This File could not be checke in because the original version of the file on the server was moved or deleted. A new version of this file has been saved to the server, but your check-in comments were not saved. To save comments………..”
or “This file could not be checked in because the original version of the file on the server was moved or deleted.”
if the same document is edited using office 2013 there is no error.
The behaviour i see when editing document using office 2007 is that it will not save the lookup column value (Document Inforamtion Panel) which we have used as a required to fill the metadata in document Library.
This is not happening to all documents, it is happening to 3 documents out of 12 in that folder. I am not sure if this will be happening with other documents.
Thanks in advance…..
Hi Glenn,
The content type used for all the files in that folder is same. There are 3 content types in that document library and they are using same lookup column.
The observation is it works with office 2013 but doesn’t work with office 2007. The file are created using office 2013. i think its a backward compatibility issue.
Thanks for the suggestion Glenn.
shot in the dark but are the 3 files different content types so different DIP panel fields?
Thanks heap Robin for reply .
it doesn’t have the answer which resolve my issue..
Regards
Came across this article that deals with similar issues with the Document Information Panel in Sp2010 and Office 2013… perhaps it might be of help to you?
