Hi All,
I am trying to figure out external sharing. I have a library that has a folder with a subfolder (I know DON’T USE FOLDERS :)), but I want to share the subfolder with an external user.
I was able to share the folder and the person received the link to get to the folder, but she was denied access. I did not share the top level folder.
If I place a file in the subfolder and share the file, she has no issues getting the file via the link in the email.
My real question here is, is there a way to share a subfolder without all the top level folders?
If not that’s fine, I will instruct my users to only share files not folders.
TIA,
Joe
Thanks for the response.
After reading everything I see I may need to create a SharePoint group and add the group to the folder for the external user. But Now I am running into an issue where the group can see everything on the site and I only want them to be able to see the folder. Do you know if there is a way to set a permission where the group has limited access to the site, and give it read rights to a folder? I haven’t seen that option when creating a group.
What kind of group are you creating? Just a SharePoint Group?
