Does anyone know if the drag and drop feature for the document library ap should be enabled for SharePoint online? I have upgraded existing site collections from 2010 and created brand new site collections in 2013 and the only option I get to upload documents is the (+) new document button. However, on virtually every SP 2013 tutorial I’ve seen, the library option states “drag files here or click to add” – opting to just drag a bunch of files from explorer and dropping them into the library causing them to automatically upload.
I’ve been through all the site and site collection features to see if something needs to be enabled, but cannot find a reference for it anywhere, so I’m wondering if this option is simply not available in O365?
I think I found out the answer to my own question – it depends on browser settings as well as Office 13 settings. It will apparently only work in IE8 or IE9 if you have Office 13 installed, however the configuration must be a particular way which I’m still investigating as I have Office 13 and am using IE9, but still do not get the drag and drop option.
If I use Google Chrome or Firefox however, I get the option and it works fine. Curious, I’ll give an update if I can figure out the details behind the Office configuration.
