I am using SharePoint 365 and I keep getting this “To save to the server, correct the invalid or missing required properties when saving documents” error. To get this, I go to “Documents” and it doesn’t matter if its a file in the root directory, or a sub-folder, but when I open up a file (i.e. word or excel file) the file will open and at the top of the document, I get a yellow bar showing the above mentioned error. If I click on “Edit Properties” a side panel shows up displaying a “form” that I have created for my team SharePoint site with some fields marked as required. I have done a ton of searching and the only thing that I keep finding is to do the “Inspect Document” method to fix this issue, and I can say that it doesn’t work in this case.
I want to keep this from ever happening again. How can I do that? In case it matters, “Documents” has been set to use “Modern” view by the company I work for.
Thank you for any help that can be given for this.
Hi, wayne3503.
This message would appear if you have mandatory metadata specified in the library. In the Modern view, there should be Information or Details icon at the top right to fill-out document properties.
What version of Microsoft Office is installed in your PC since accessing document properties is different from earlier versions?
