There have been many times where if we had a separate chat window with all the members actively working on someones problem, it wouldn’t have been so cluttered in the chat area. I think we could also do sub chats for things like development, SP reactions(LOL), or User profile Service not starting(Brad). Or even installing software that isn’t even SP (Vlad).
This would also help with a suggestion Vlad made to allow us to keep track and document solutions to problems, that way when people are searching we can hold a large or the largest repository of break fix solutions for SharePoint.

Agreed. I think something that’s often overlooked is directing a person with a complex problem to create a discussion post instead. This gives a more permanent place to discuss the issue. I usually do that and then post a link in chat so others can either post replies or discuss it in chat.Â
The original intent was to be able to create rooms on the fly for troubleshooting, I can see your point though. All of us in there is a great vibe. I still think there is something to be benefited from by taking the discussion that is lasting hours to another “room” to make sure there isn’t as many missed messages. At times I have seen the chat window fill up with 8-10 people typing about the same issue, then a random poster asks a question and it gets missed.
The problem I see with having multiple rooms is that it segments the user base. I like having all of the chat in one room because you will not miss anything as long as you are in the room. I think if this were to be implemented, we would also need a way to log the rooms to allow one to go back later and see what was missed by not being in the other room as well.
yea, I know at the moment it would help me as I would be able to ping my questions to the DEVs in a group and not look like an idiot in the main room.Â
