in my opinion with such a booming product, it’s always problem to keep balance between family and SharePoint life. Does someone has a solution?
I think it also depends on what job you take in the SharePoint world. Some jobs are more time intensive than others and if you have a problem saying no to people, you’re going to run into issues. The travelling is a biggie. I did it for 2 years and I’m done; it nearly killed me. But I wanted to get a global presence and that was the only way to do it. You have to decide how far you want to go. If you want to become a global figure and get on the speaker circuit; be prepared to spend a lot of time away from home. You have to learn to set boundaries and learn to say no, because if you don’t it WILL take over your life. It happens so easily and you don’t even see it coming. To quote one of my trainers; SharePoint has to fit into your life; not your life into SharePoint.
