I’m new to sharepoint.I’m trying to send external emails to gmail,yahoo but unable to.Can anyone help me with this.
I have sharepoint environment on my local system.

Do I need to start user profile synchronization service to send emails ?

Then you will need to use a 2010 workflow. For “security” reasons, you can’t use a 2013 workflow to send an email to an external address
