We have SharePoint 2013 On Premises and are a manufacturing business. We have some document libraries with several MetaData Columns. One of these columns is to do with part numbers and there are several thousand part numbers.
Some documents will relate to several hundreds of part numbers which means that sometimes a document can have over 800 tags on a single field on a column. So I will list a a few questions and see if anyone will have the answers?
1. What is the maximum tags on a metadata field?
2. There are hundreds of tags that begin with “MET”. Once we start typing we get the suggestions as shown on the image below in an alphabetical order but only the first few items appear and you can’t scroll down to see them all. Once the visible tags have been already used on this field then no other tags will appear unless you start typing additional characters and then the users having to memorize all these tags is impossible.
3. Is there any third party tool that anyone can recommend that would help with such scenario?
4. Or could it be that SharePoint is not the right tool for this job in the first place?
