I’m trying to determine if I get a hyperlink to a document in a document library will that hyperlink only point to that version of the document or will it always pull up the most current version?
Thanks Mark! The send to option may work for me, I’ll take a closer look and see if I can figure it out. Thanks again!
Interesting,
Here is the URL convention that Mark mentioned.Â
<site URL>/_vti_history/512/<library name>/<path name>/<filename>
It adds 512 for each major version.Â
On a related note, is there a way to create a custom list view that will display links to the most recent major (approved) version of files only?Â
Thanks!Â
Fred
Actually one other workaround you could do is to create a 2nd document library that has major versions only. Then use the “Send To” link to send the document over to it when it’s approved. That way all the docs in that library will only ever be majors.
Hi Ken – this depends on the permissions of the user clicking it. If the user has the rights to see the minor version then they will see the minor version. From memory (and it’s gong back some now), I think there’s a special url convention you can use to show a particular version. I will hook in Hugo as he’s been dealing with this more recently.
