Came across a familiar problem today but the usual tricks aren’t working. Wondering if anyone else came across this. Normally after ensuring SP URL is in the Intranet Zone, setting the option to forward user name and password, and adding the reg entry as described in the article below, the prompts go away. However this isn’t working for me.
The scenario is you share a document from a department site to a user outside of the department. The user you have shared the document with has no access to the department site. You just want to grant access to this one document. When the user attempts to open the shared document it opens find in the web app but when you try to open it in word it prompts for a user name and password and will not accept the users credentials.
Anyone else see this happen? Find a fix for it?
Well I got it. Running this will solve the issue should you come across it!
stsadm -o deactivatefeature -url http://SERVERNAME/sites/SITENAME -filename ViewFormPagesLockDown\feature.xml
