What’s the impact of enabling SharePoint pool data storage?

I am looking at enabling pool storage within my organisation’s tenant, which has a few thousand sites already existing (all using less than 1tb). My question is, has anyone here enabled it under similar conditions and any pros or cons that I should be taking into consideration?  Also has anyone rolled back the change? If so what was the impact on user sites etc?
