“InfoPath is dead”
Ok we all kind of guessed this was coming, but Microsoft officially announced today that InfoPath is one dead puppy. In their words “This means that InfoPath 2013 is the last release of the desktop client, and InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Server 2013 is the last release of InfoPath Forms Services“.
So, what are you plans now ? If you are looking for a new forms solution, will you go InfoPath 2013, wait for the next “Forms Solution” from MS, or go with something else?
Anyway, here’s their full article :Â http://blogs.office.com/2014/01/31/update-on-infopath-and-sharepoint-forms/
TIP: Find your next Infopath Forms Replacement over in our Collab365.Directory.
I dont think so .. becuuse I guess infopath is used a lot when there is not improvement in HTML and now a days HTML 5 is there and other too such as nintex etc ..Â
Does anyone think that the “new InfoPath” will be announced at Vegas, or too early? Or … maybe MS could even buy one of the alternatives 😉
Nowadays forms are less and less used as a separate entities. Usually they’re combined with workflows to deliver fully functional business applications. Hence if you’re looking for something that would be suitable for a long-term strategy, I’d look into BPM-like solutions that offer both forms and workflows (within SharePoint of course).
It’s kind of a shame in many cases you have to buy them separately and pay twice. There are rare examples when both workflows and forms are combined (e.g. WEBCON BPS), wish there was more.
I think SharePoint 2013 is the last version for Infopath but we can’t say it’s dead because there are a lot of option or alternatives to improve with the help of Infopath workflow development.
I would like to suggest our SharePoint Forms Designer as a great InfoPath alternative. This tool allows to design rich SharePoint forms directly in the browser and supports any fields including Management Metadata and even 3rd party columns. It works with all SharePoint 2010/2013 editions including SharePoint Online in Office 365. Our customers find Forms Designer rich, well integrated and easy-to-use: http://www.linkedin.com/company/plumsail/sharepoint-forms-designer-21574101/product?trk=biz_product_logo
