So, is the enterprise ready for social? Is SharePoint?

My take on Enterprise Social Networking is that it depends on the type, business model, and size of the corporations or combination of all. For large size business-to-business enterprise, ESN might not be adopted globally due to its size and no-immediate-needs at present. Yet, social can still happen at projects/team-based to some degree. On another hand, small to medium size business-to-consumer company quickly recognize the needs for social-driven initiatives. The fact that marketing leaning toward social media for campaigns and CRM bring greater incentives for internal collaboration via similar ‘social’ platform. So, the complete answer is that ‘it depends’.
