I just wanted to start a discussion on using Big Data solutions in SP environments. What could be the possible implications and what benefits and value can it add to the platform.
Some of the implications I could see it getting implements for:
1. Security Analysis
2. Log Analysis
3. Usage Analysis and future Trends
Where do you think Big Data solutions can be leveraged if at all for the SharePoint collaboration work-space and does it add any value in providing any actionable insights?

That’s a soft ball, I think. 😀 The harder sell would be on things like making MySite page more like Google Now, for instance. Delve is a great start in that direction at least.
I am pretty sure the O365 is working on some API that exposes tenant specific log data and usage data that can be fed into any analytical tool ! If not they better be working on it.
The biggest value add I see is in the mash up of data from Identity management systems, HR or other LOB apps for security audit reports that can take e-discovery to the next level!
I would love to see the Delve interface opened up to other data sources ala BCS (but without it’s relational DB way of thinking.) Azure has a fair amount of big data features that can be leveraged as well as the machine learning features. Those could certainly be exposed as custom web parts or add-ins.
