I recently have been employed as a SharePoint Admin, I have limited experience and am reaching out for some help to acclamate myself to the program. My training has consisted of Google.
In the next coming weeks we are going to be migrating several sites, and I want to shine. I am a quick study, so any recommendations, or even better a walk through would greatly be appreciated!

I agree, that book is a excellent start. Also, building a dev environment and getting your hands dirty will help tremendously. Do this sooner than later, there are plenty of step-by-step’s online to get your farm up and rolling.
I would recommend this book, SharePoint 2010. I started off with SharePoint 2007 by reading their book. I read it, setup dev, test, and production environments. I read the 2010 book from cover to cover like a novel. It was excellent too. Right now I’m using their 2013 book and still not disappointed. Â
