Can some folks offer me some ROI success stories and case studies for using SharePoint and more specifically upgrading to 2013?

I’m currently managing a 2010 Enterprise environment that had a very shaky roll out prior to me coming on, and some of the senior team has not recognized the value of upgrading to 2013 let alone keeping 2010.

I’ve only been the Admin for about 6 months and the implementation for 2010 was only about 18 months prior so yes it might be early to upgrade, however my assessment is that the end users and management team did not have clear expectations of what 2010 could (or couldn’t) offer this particular environment. They should have probably went with 2013 Enterprise from the get go. I am not looking to make an offer to the business to do so.

We already have the licensing to upgrade so the only costs are implementation and additional hardware (which for us would be minimal because we would already have virtual space available). Unfortunately they are reluctant because of the bad roll out of 2010 and also because we have not using it as well as it could have been.

I recognize we can do more to optimize our current environment but I also know many of the business needs can not be met in 2010 (in a practical manner for end users). Instead of investing time and resources into trying to make 2010 work (knowing there are limitations especially for the mobile environment) I would rather invest it into 2013 which I believe brings much more advancement in functionality as well as a huge upgrade to the user experience.

SO… can anyone offer stories, resources etc. to help inspire my creative thinking and build my case???
