Folks, I am just trying to see how you deal with the issue of missing metadata. Here is the scenario:
1. Document Library contains custom metadata columns. User uploads and tags the document.
2. At some point user make changes to the file, keeps the file name the same and uploads to same library
The expected behavior is that SharePoint recognizes that file already exists, bumps up the version and keeps same metadata. However, all metadata is lost!!! This applies only to MSFT office files with .docx and .xlsx file extensions. It is OK for PDF docs for example.
It seems like it is a known issue and MSFT is aware of this bug. Have you see this behavior and how do you deal with it, especially from End User standpoint?
